«The Wildflower» fut un grand succès à New York, ouvrant ses portes en février 1923 pour 477 représentations. La distribution originale comprenait Edith Day et Charles Judels. Une production australienne en 1925 avait connu un succès semblable, et les Australiens Kitty Reidy et Howett Worster avaient donc été importés pour le spectacle à Londres. Mais en Angleterre, le mélange de comédie musicale et d’opérette n’a pas séduit. En oplus cela n'a pas aidé de devoir jouer en pleinr la grève nationale en mai 1926. Bien qu’il ait déménagé deux fois dans des théâtres différents, le spectacle s'est arrêté après moins de quatre mois.
