Never Forget (2008-05-Savoy Theatre-London)
Type de série: Original LondonThéâtre: Savoy Theatre (Londres - Angleterre) Durée : 5 mois 4 semaines Nombre : Première Preview : mercredi 07 mai 2008Première : mercredi 21 mai 2008Dernière : samedi 15 novembre 2008Mise en scène : Ed Curtis • Chorégraphie : Karen Bruce • Producteur : Avec : Dean Chisnall (Ash Sherwood), Craige Els (Jake Turner ), Tim Driesen (Adrian Banks), Eaton James (Dirty Harry ), Stephane Anelli (Jose Reize), Sophia Ragavelas (Chloe Turner), Joanne Farrell (Annie Borrowman), Teddy Kempner (Ron Freeman), Marilyn Cutts (Babs Sherwood)Commentaires : Originally premiered in Cardiff in July 2007, followed by a successful tour, the show was re-staged in March 2008 for a six city pre-West End tour. It was a lavish £3 million production with songs written by Gary Barlow and several others, and received very good notices. It ran for six months, closing on November 15th because the Savoy was p r e - b o o k e d f o r “Carousel”. The original plan had been to transfer “Never Forget” to the smaller Lyric Theatre, but it seems the producers wanted to pay lower salaries at the smaller theatre, and Equity resisted. With such a large cast the show had rarely covered its weekly costs, so the transfer was abandoned. It was said the entire £3 million investment was lost on this showPresse : FIONA MOUNTFORD for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Ed Curtis's production is a riot of fake tans, outrageous costumes and the highest-octane choreography the West End has seen in years."
ESTHER WALKER for THE INDEPENDENT says, "The show is good. It's fast-paced and lively, funny and easy on the eye, and the songs have been lovingly and faithfully adapted to the stage."
CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "I was both smiling and tapping my foot...Pacy production is blessed with a succession of highly energetic, enjoyably erotic dance routines."
LYN GARDNER for THE GUARDIAN says, "There are flashes of droll humour, the actors are engaging and there is a lively vulgarity."
DOMINIC MAXWELL for THE TIMES says, "While it's played at a zip and sung with a smile, it's terrible old cobblers and it knows it."
The production, which features the catalogue of songs by Take That, is a feel-good comedy about love, friendship, ambition and betrayal. Set in Manchester, NEVER FORGET follows the rollercoaster journey of young hero ‘Ash’ and his best mates in the pursuit of their dreams. Along the way, each of them discovers that pretending to be someone else can sometimes help you discover who you really are. Packed with all the classic Take That songs, the show includes Relight My Fire, Pray, Back For Good, Babe and, of course, Never Forget.
Un 'Juke-Box Musical' surprenant… Une très belle production anglaise.
1 Never Forget peut-être considéré comme un juke-box musical autour de la musique de Boyband Take That
The musical Never Forget premiered at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, in July 2007 prior to a short UK tour. The show was nominated for the 2008 WOS Theatregoers Choice Award for Best Touring Production and received generally favourable notices. It then re-opened at The Churchill Theatre, Bromley, England, in March 2008 for a second six-city pre-West End tour.
The musical began previews on 7 May 2008 at the Savoy Theatre in London and officially opened on 21 May 2008 to generally favourable reviews. The tours and West End production were both directed by Ed Curtis and choreographed by Karen Bruce. The set design was by Bob Bailey, lighting design by James Whiteside, sound design by Richard Brooker and costume design by Christopher Woods. The production closed at the Savoy on 15 November 2008.
The original touring production is available on DVD, filmed on the press night at Manchester Opera House.

Controversy
In April 2006, EMI licensed the Take That songs to be used in Never Forget. At the time, Take That had not performed together since the 1990s. Soon thereafter, however, the band re-formed. In 2007, Take That posted the following statement on their website: "The band would like to state categorically that this production is being undertaken with neither their involvement nor their endorsement. They would wish their fans and the general public to know that this production is absolutely and 100 per cent nothing to do with Take That."[10]
After the musical's opening in London, Gary Barlow told the BBC, "At first I thought it sounded horrible... [but] the reports I've seen have been really good so there must be something good in it. I'm just worried that they're better than us."
