Controversial Japanese musical Out of the Blue has bombed, at the Shaftesbury theatre, taking its place in the all time list of fastest West End closures*
The £2 million musical ends on saturday, only 17 days after it opened.
Its departure comes as little surprise, because the show received virtually no pre-publicity and received a mauling at the hands of the critics.
Penned by Shun-Ichi Tokura with a libretto by Paul Sand, Out of the Blue told the tale of love against the backdrop of the Nagaski H-bombing.
The rapid departure of the show rivals last year's closure of Eurovision, which was pulled just 16 days after the first night.
